Dear Members, Associates, and Affiliates:
Happy New Year! As we look forward to 2017, I am happy to inform you we already have some great programs lined up. To meet the annual requirement for CFEs to obtain 2 ethics credit hours, we are hosting our annual Ethics luncheon program, taught by Dr. Richard Hurley of University of Connecticut, on January 19, 2017. Please note the January and February luncheons will be held at Shaker Ridge Country Club in Colonie. On February 16, 2017, Mario Pecoraro’s (President & CEO of Alliance Worldwide Investigative Group Inc.) program will cover the use of a private investigator in financial investigations.

The Albany Area Chapter of ACFEs’ Board of Directors continue to take steps to improve our website, as well as the event registration and dues renewal process. Our website has been redesigned with better functionality on cell phones and tablets. You may have noticed that certain parts of the Chapter’s website are still under construction, including the membership dues renewal page (which may be hidden on the website at this time). Stay tuned; we will notify you when you may renew your Chapter membership for 2017. Until then, Chapter membership for 2016 will qualify for member pricing for upcoming Chapter events. Registration for the Chapter’s events will continue to be on the Chapter’s website.

Our updated website, once complete, will have additional features that will allow our event attendees to have user accounts they can maintain on the Chapter website, which will track the Chapter events the user attended and CPE credits earned. In the near future, in conjunction with the user accounts, we are also rolling out online evaluations and CPE certificates for each program you attend. Did you ever lose a CPE certificate from one of our Chapter events or wonder how many CPE credits you earned from our Chapter? Soon, you’ll be able to log-in to your user account on our Chapter’s website and reprint CPE certificates and track your CPE credits whenever you want to.

The Albany Area Chapter dues are separate from the dues collected by the International ACFE and are used, in part, to subsidize the cost of our luncheons, which, at this juncture, we continue to offer to members at $20 per lunch program versus $30 for non-members. Annual Chapter dues are $15 for full members, $20 for associate members and $20 for affiliate members. With the reduced event fees for Chapter members, there is quite a return on the annual membership fee. With venue prices continuing to increase, it is possible that luncheon registration fees may
need to be increased. However, the Chapter’s Board continues to make every effort to provide quality training programs at economical prices. Should you have any suggestions of topics or speakers, please make a recommendation.

An email regarding the upcoming election for certain of the Chapter’s Board of Directors positions will be sent to members in the near future. At this juncture, there will be two vacant Board positions. If you are a CFE member (full member) or an associate member and you have 2 interest in serving on the Chapter's Board, please email (to albanyacfe@aol.com) your bio /resume / CV and a paragraph or two stating your interest and reasons why you are a qualified
candidate to serve as one of the Chapters’ Board Members.
At this time, I'd like to remind you that our Chapter continues to have a $1,500 scholarship fund
that is available each year to be awarded to our members who pass the CFE exam. Certain rules
