NOMINATIONS, ELECTIONS AND ANNUAL MEETING

Eligibility


Full Members (CFEs) of the international ACFE
Eligible to Hold Chapter Office and Vote in Chapter Elections.

Associate Members (non-CFEs) of the international ACFE
Eligible to Hold Chapter Office, but not Eligible to Vote in Chapter Elections.

Albany Chapter Affiliate Members
(non-members of the international ACFE)
Not Eligible to Hold Chapter Office or Vote in Chapter Elections.


Time Line


Feb  - Distribution of Nomination Forms
Nomination forms will be available at the May meeting, and also will be mailed.

March 15 - Deadline for Return of Nomination Forms
Nomination forms must be returned by mail to the Secretary of the Chapter.

April 1 - Mailing of Voting Ballots
Each CFE chapter member will receive a ballot with the roster of candidates for office.

April 15 - Submission of Ballots
Each CFE chapter member must return by mail his/her ballot form to the Secretary of the Chapter.

April 20 - Annual Chapter Business Meeting
Report of the election outcome and presentation of the newly elected officers.


Election Rules


Members eligible for office may self-nominate or nominate others.
To assure diversity of representation:
No more than two members from the same company may hold chapter office at the same time.

  • To hold Chapter office, nominees must be a CFE or Associate member of the parent Association of Certified Fraud Examiners; and a member of the local chapter; and current in dues for the local chapter.

  • Only Certified Fraud Examiners who are members of the parent Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and who are members of the local chapter, and who are current in dues for the local chapter, are eligible to vote.

  • The officers and three directors shall be elected for one year terms by a plurality of the votes of eligible Members responding to a mail ballot sent at least 30 days before the election.

  • Directors shall serve staggered terms and shall hold office until their successors are duly elected and qualified. At least two of the Directors should serve two-year terms; the remaining directors may serve only one-year terms. Directors who are elected for one-year terms may be re-elected only for one additional term. Directors who are elected for two-year terms may not be re-elected.

  • A Nominations Committee shall be composed of three Members appointed by the President with the concurrence of a majority of the Board of Directors. No member of the Board of Directors is eligible to serve on the Nominations Committee. The Nominations Committee shall nominate not less than one, nor more than three candidates for any one office.

  • The Election Committee shall consist of three Members appointed by the Board. No member of the Board of Directors is eligible to serve on the Elections Committee. The Election Committee shall certify the results of the annual elections.

The Annual Meeting of the local chapter shall be held for the purpose of announcing the election results of Officers and Directors; the installation of the Officers and Directors; and transacting such other business as deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors.
